Performance Blends and Their Ingredients
A performance blend typically adds amino acids such as creatine, beta-alanine, or citrulline, sometimes alongside electrolytes. These are the ingredients that distinguish a performance product from a plain multivitamin.

Creatine
A staple of strength-oriented blends. It is the ingredient most people recognize first, which is why it often sits high on the front of the pack.
Whether the grams per serving are printed. "Creatine blend" with no figure means you are guessing.
Beta-alanine
Turns up in blends aimed at repeated efforts. It is usually dosed well below the amount you would see in a dedicated single-ingredient product.
The serving size. A blend with two scoops per serving divides its aminos across both.
Citrulline
Common in products marketed around training sessions. Like the others, it lives or dies by how much of it is actually in the scoop.
Whether it is listed as citrulline or as a malate, since the two are not the same weight for weight.
Electrolytes
Sodium, potassium, and magnesium salts that show up in endurance-leaning formulas. They sit between a supplement and a drink mix.
The sodium figure in particular. It is the one that matters most in a hot climate and the one most often left off.
If a blend lists no individual amounts, you are trusting the brand's proportions. That is a legitimate way to buy, as long as you know that is what you are doing.
